Watchdog says to draw up protocols vs Twitter, court to slap fine
MOSCOW, Mar 2 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service will draw up protocols for Twitter for non-deletion of banned information, while a court to impose a fine, a watchdog spokesperson told PRIME late on Monday.
The authority said Twitter had not deleted 2,862 pieces of locally banned information since 2017, which violates the law grossly.
The protocols will be handed over to court. The service said Twitter is well informed about the watchdog’s intentions.
A due non-deletion of banned information is fined 800,000 to 4 million rubles, while punishment for repeated violation raises the amount by up to 10% of annual revenue.
